Licking County Health Department Schedules Food Safety Class

LICKING COUNTY, OHIO – The Licking County Health Department will hold a food safety class on Wednesday, November 16 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.  The class will be held at the Health Department located at 675 Price Road in Newark.

“Insuring our restaurants provide safe food to their customers is one of our department’s largest responsibilities.”  said Joe Ebel, Licking County Health Commissioner.  “However, we should also make sure we are serving safe food to our friends and families as well.  The information provided during our food safety classes can be useful in our restaurants and our homes and the classes are open to anyone free of charge.”

The Centers for Disease Control estimates that 1 out of every 6 Americans suffers from a foodborne illness each year.  Properly cooking, storing, and handling food can reduce the risk of contracting this type of illness.
