Great American Smokeout
November 17, 2011
The American Cancer Society’s 36th Great American Smokeout (GAS) is November 17, 2011. The GAS challenges people to lead a healthier lifestyle by quitting smoking. It encourages smokers to commit to making a long-term plan to quit smoking for good. GAS challenges smokers to use the date to make their plan to quit or to plan in advance and quit smoking that day. By doing so, smokers will be taking an important step towards a healthier life – one that can lead to reducing cancer risk. Quitting smoking is not easy, but it can be done. There are resources available to help smokers quit here in Licking County. The Ohio Tobacco Quit Line offers free cessation counseling for uninsured, Medicaid recipients, pregnant women and members of the Ohio Tobacco Collaborative. To enroll in Quit Line services, call 1-800-QUIT-NOW or logon to http://www.nationaljewish.org/ohio-old/Enrollment/index/ .
