Lori Dixon named as 2011 Public Health Guardian

December 21, 2011

During its December 2011 meeting, the Licking County Board of Health awarded the 2011 Public Health Guardian Award to Lori Dixon. This award recognizes an individual, agency or program that has made a significant contribution to the promotion and protection of public health in Licking County.

Ms. Dixon was recognized with the award for her efforts in coordinating the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT). CERT is a volunteer organization that offers assistance during both emergency and non-emergency situations. CERT volunteers have assisted the Health Department during its H1N1 vaccination clinics and also during its community events.

“Lori’s dedication in leading the CERT program in Licking County has benefited the entire community.” said Joe Ebel, Licking County Health Commissioner. “She played a huge role in our H1N1 vaccination campaign, during which we were able to protect nearly 20,000 people against the virus, and CERT volunteers have assisted us on numerous other occasions as well. Lori always displays an enthusiastic and positive attitude and she truly is deserving of this recognition.”
